Supporting Healthy Marine Ecosystems, Sustainable Economies, and Vibrant Communities
For over 10 years, the Donner Canadian Foundation has supported Atlantic marine conservation with the conviction that a healthy ocean sustains an abundance of marine life, protects vulnerable species and habitats, and contributes to economically and socially vibrant coastal communities.
The foundation’s partners in this work are:
- Canadian Parks and Wilderness Society
- Ecology Action Centre
- Environment Funders Canada
- Oceana Canada
- Oceans North
- World Wildlife Fund Canada
Working with fishers, industry, governments, Indigenous communities, and other stakeholders, these organizations have contributed to some remarkable wins for the Atlantic Ocean. These milestones include improved public policy (a modernized Fisheries Act); marine protected areas that contribute to Canada’s goal of protecting 25% of its ocean by 2025 and 30% by 2030; and Canada’s substantial commitment to Indigenous-led conservation through Project Finance for Permanence.
The foundation is proud to support progress toward healthy oceans – for the benefit of Canada and the world.
